The Farmer Veteran Coalition of Iowa and Drake Agricultural Law Center will host a conference Dec. 14 featuring expert agriculture attorneys, accountants, agribusiness professionals, educators, USDA personnel, and other veteran service providers as well as a keynote address from Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey.

Assistant Professor of Law Shontavia Johnson was recognized as a “2013 Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40” by the National Bar Association and IMPACT. Nation’s Best Advocates recognizes talented individuals (age 40 and under) within the African American legal community who have achieved prominence and distinction, professionally and philanthropically.
“The Fifth Estate” opened in theaters Friday, Oct. 18 featuring one of this century’s most sensitive topics: WikiLeaks. For Drake Law alumnus Nawi Ukabiala, LW’11, the timing is perfect. An article he wrote at Drake on the same topic was recently published in the Federal Courts Law Review, Oct. 2013.
Drake 3L Sasha Mayo spent her last summer of law school interning at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in downtown Brooklyn, NY. Her assignment was in the Domestic Violence Bureau working with the Misdemeanor Assistant District Attorney and the Felony Assistant District Attorney.
Professors Mark Kende and Jerry Foxhoven each served as a panelist for Constitution Day activities. Kende participated at Iowa State as a panelist for "Genes, Race, Free Speech, Same-Sex Marriage and the U.S. Supreme Court." Foxhoven was a panelist for a webinar sponsored by the Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Iowa Department of Education. The webinar was titled, "The Constitution – The Words We Live By."
