Drake University Law School will host the 6th International and Comparative Law Insolvency Symposium Nov. 5-7. The event brings together international scholars, legal practitioners and judicial experts to examine emerging issues and practical approaches in restructuring and bankruptcy law.
The symposium will feature prominent speakers, including Drake Law alumnus John J. Ray III, who gained international recognition for leading the bankruptcies and liquidations of major corporations, including Enron and FTX. “This conference brings together some of the world’s leading academics, practitioners, and bankruptcy judges in the field of international insolvency,” said Drake Law Professor Christoph Henkel. “It offers a unique opportunity to explore emerging trends, examine some of the newest developments, and engage in discussions on issues that affect businesses, financial markets, and virtually every sector of our economy.”
The symposium will begin with an opening reception Nov. 5, offering attendees an opportunity to connect with legal leaders, including John Ray, Judge Harner and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher M. Lopez.
Panel discussions Nov. 6-7 will address cross-border legal challenges, emerging market frameworks and comparative insolvency practices. Sessions will bring together leading scholars, practitioners and judicial experts to share perspectives on developments in insolvency law.
The symposium is supported by International Insolvency Institute, and organized by leading law scholars, including: Professor Laura Coordes, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University; Professor Eugenio Vaccari, Royal Holloway, University of London; Professor Adrian Walters, Chicago-Kent College of Law/Nottingham Trent University; and, Professor Christoph Henkel, Drake University Law School.
