Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, LW’74, has been named the 2016 Drake Law Alumnus of the Year. He will be honored at the Law School’s 79th Annual Supreme Court Celebration Banquet on April 2.
Drake Law named Top 25 Best Law School for Practical Training
Drake Law School has been recognized as a Top 25 Best Law School for Practical Training by The National Jurist. Schools are rated based on factors including the percentage of students who participate in clinics, externships, simulation courses, and interschool skills competitions.
Drake Law team advances to AAJ Mock Trial national finals
A Drake Law School team won the regional American Association for Justice (AAJ) National Student Trial Advocacy Competition to advance to the national finals. This marks the third consecutive year Drake has won the regional title.
Drake team wins ABA appellate advocacy regionals
Drake Law School’s team of Thomas Bakke (3L), Anagha Dixit (3L), and Daniel Peacock (2L) was crowned champion at the regional ABA Law School Division National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Boston. Drake was also awarded the top brief in the region.
Drake 3L advocates for first-ever Girls Court in Iowa
Laura McGuire, a third-year Drake Law School student, contributed to the establishment of the first-ever Girls Court in Iowa. The Girls Court, called Too Good to Lose (TGTL), opened in Polk County in early March.
