Senior Jordan Mirocha will travel to Chile on Jan. 10 to participate in the 2009 Research Experience for Undergraduates Program in Astronomy at the mountaintop Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in La Serena.

The Drake Law School National Moot Court team recently finished second in the regional rounds of the National Moot Court Competition. Drake will advance to the finals for the 16th time since 1990.

Drake recently celebrated a $1 million gift to the University's jazz program with a concert dedicated to Drake alumnus Fred Turner, retired senior chairman of McDonald's Corp., and his late wife, Patty, a Drake alumna.

Drake pharmacy professor Lon Larson recently shared the insights he has gained while battling cancer with hundreds of students, faculty, staff, alumni and cancer survivors in a lecture titled "Choose Your Attitude."

Drake's nationally recognized magazine program will grow even stronger thanks to a $1.5 million gift to establish a faculty chair in magazine journalism from Drake alumna Peggy Fisher and her husband, Larry Stelter.
