Drake University Launches National Search for Next Law School Dean

Drake University has launched a national search for the next dean of Drake Law School. The University is seeking an accomplished, visionary academic leader with a passion for legal education, a commitment to student success, and the desire and ability  to build on the Law School’s strong regional reputation and growing national recognition.

The next dean will lead a talented faculty, engage closely with students and stakeholders, and advance the school’s mission of blending theory and practice in a student-centered learning environment. The dean will report directly to Provost Joseph M. Valenzano III and will serve as a key member of the Provost Council and the University’s senior leadership team.

Located in Iowa’s capital city, Drake Law School benefits from deep connections with the judiciary, legal profession, business community, and a dedicated alumni network. For more than 150 years, Drake Law School has prepared students for lives of service and success in law. Founded in 1865 by Iowa Supreme Court justices, the Law School’s mission was to teach law in proximity to the courts so students could witness the law in action.

“This is an incredible opportunity to join a nationally recognized law school while preparing the next generation of legal professionals to lead meaningful personal lives, and become accomplished professionals and responsible global citizens,” said Drake University Provost Joseph M. Valenzano III. “We would encourage any interested candidates to review the full prospectus and apply.”
