Rika Uchida, visiting assistant professor in piano and music theory, will give a solo piano recital featuring Debussy's "Claire de Lune" and Liszt's "Mephisto Waltz."

Dennis Goldford, professor of politics at Drake University, will give a talk titled "The First Amendment Does Not Protect Religion" on Tuesday, March 25.

Assistant Professor of Music Ashley Sidon will perform a cello recital at 8 p.m., Thursday Mar. 13, on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 2507 University Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

The Drake community gathered Monday to honor the Bulldog women’s basketball team, which won its first Missouri Valley Conference regular season title since the 2000-01 campaign.

Keno Davis, who has guided the men's basketball team to its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1971, has been named National College Basketball Coach of the Year by Sporting News Magazine.

Drake secured its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1971 with a 79-49 victory past Illinois State in the championship of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Sunday.

The Drake women's basketball team will cut down the nets at 4 p.m. in celebration of earning a share of the 2007-08 Missouri Valley Conference regular season title.

The Bulldogs beat Creighton 75-67 on Saturday to reach the Missouri Valley Conference tournament final for the first time.

Coming off a 68-46 quarterfinal round victory past Indiana State, Drake is making its first appearance in the semifinal round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament since 1993.
