Drake alumnus Mark Doty honored with National Book Award for poetry; Three alumni honored at National Philanthropy Day; and Plan to attend men's basketball game watch party Dec. 9.

The Drake Law School National Moot Court team recently finished second in the regional rounds of the National Moot Court Competition. Drake will advance to the finals for the 16th time since 1990.

Drake recently celebrated a $1 million gift to the University's jazz program with a concert dedicated to Drake alumnus Fred Turner, retired senior chairman of McDonald's Corp., and his late wife, Patty, a Drake alumna.

Twenty-one CBPA faculty and staff members are teaming together in reading groups to explore leadership and new strategies for teaching students and demonstrating leadership in the workplace.

Drake University has the distinguished honor of having a campus plan and nine buildings designed by two of the greatest architects of the 20th century. This fall, a comprehensive exhibition sheds light on how those designs by Eliel Saarinen and his son, Eero, reflected Drake's determination to be a modern university that would help propel America into post-World War II leadership.

Drake will host "Carnage in the Corn," a stage combat workshop featuring classes including "Groin Shots are Funny" and "Sword vs. Spear," sanctioned by the Society of American Fight Directors.
