Madelyn M. Levitt will receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service from The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Drake University Theatre will open the fall season with "Autobahn," a series of short plays by Neil LaBute that take place in the front seats of cars.

Alveda C. King, Gospel of Life leader, and a niece of Martin Luther King Jr., will speak at Drake University on the racial implications of abortion at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main.

Michael Kraig will give a lecture on "Ensuring the U.S. and Global Security in an Inter-Connected World," from 12:30-1:45 p.m. in Bulldog Theatre in Olmsted Center, 2875 University Avenue.

In conjunction with the award ceremony and dinner for Madelyn M. Levitt, recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service, the Woodrow Wilson Center will sponsor a public lecture and panel discussion titled "Civility, Society and Politics: Is There a Problem?"

Renowned political scientist Morris P. Fiorina will give a lecture at Drake University Thursday, Sept. 20, on "The Great Disconnect in American Politics" as part of a national Visiting Scholar Program sponsored by the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

The Drake Law School will celebrate and educate students and citizens on Constitution Day from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, in room 206 of Cartwright Hall.

With classes ranging from astronomy to the impact of the Iowa caucuses, Drake University's Billie and Robert D. Ray Lifelong Learning Society provides learning opportunities in a college atmosphere to senior citizens throughout the fall semester.

Drake University will host the 20th anniversary celebration of the Chinese Association of Iowa with a performance by the Tianjin Conservatory of Music's dance troupe on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Although the research sites are located south of Indianapolis, Ind., Drake students are participating in a 10-year study of sustainable forestry in Indiana hardwood ecosystems right here on campus, to help improve the way lumber is harvested.
