Update on Microsoft Services/Skype for Business Outage

ITS is continuing to work on resolving the Skype for Business outage and issues with Microsoft services. It appears Microsoft services such as Teams and email are all functioning properly at this point, but there continue to be lingering issues with Skype for Business. Right now, faculty and staff can use the full Skype for Business client from a Windows computer or Mac to make and receive phone calls. Polycom phones located on campus also work. Update on Microsoft service outages

The outage affecting the ITS and Facilities service portal has been resolved. Requests can once again be submitted at service.drake.edu. The outage affecting other Microsoft systems including Exchange (email and calendaring), Skype for Business (phone), Teams, and OneDrive is not yet resolved. We will continue to share with you any updates we receive from Microsoft. Thank you for your continued patience. Multiple Outages of Microsoft Services

Earlier this morning, ITS reported outages and service slowdowns of our Skype for Business system and the ITS and Facilities service portals. We have now learned that these issues are related. We are seeing connected reports of issues affecting systems including Exchange (email and calendaring), Skype for Business (phone), Teams, and OneDrive. At 8:00 a.m., ITS was made are of a Skype for Business outage. This is preventing faculty and staff using Skype for Business from logging into the application or Polycom phones to make and receive calls. ITS is diligently working towards a resolution. Professor Ed Bell nears finish line of his Drake career

Ed Bell, professor of pharmacy practice, is retiring on June 30, 2020, after 30 years of service to Drake University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS). Bell received his B.S. and Pharm.D. from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He joined CPHS and Blank Children’s Hospital in the fall of 1989. “I found the academic environment enjoyable and stimulating, as those working in such an environment constantly asked questions,” said Bell. “I have always enjoyed working with children – they are fun to be with. Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS) held the 2020 Commencement Ceremony virtually on Saturday, May 16, 2020. While the ceremony was different from prior years, what was not changed was that new CPHS alumni are now equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to make a difference in their professions.
