A contemporary sculpture exhibit at the Moberg Gallery features several works by Robert Craig, associate professor of art and chair of the Department of Art and Design at Drake University.

Receiving national attention this month is an online collection of more than 200 historic photographs of Des Moines, held and scanned from original sources by the Special Collections Department of Drake University’s Cowles Library.

The summer series of Friday evening public presentations at the Drake Municipal Observatory concludes with an exploration of "How to Buy a Telescope You Will Use and Not Get Tired Of" at 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, at the observatory in Waveland Park on the west side of Des Moines.

The Drake Neighborhood Farmers' Market will host Every Day Cook featuring Chef Joe at the July 11 market. Chef Joe will demonstrate easy-to-prepare recipes with fresh, in-season produce available at the market. Demos, which include free samples and recipes, are scheduled every 30 minutes during the market, which is open from 4 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of First Christian Church, 25th Street and University Avenue.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Democratic presidential candidate, gave the public more to chew on than cookies at a recent “Cookies and Conversation” forum hosted by Drake University and IowaPolitics.com.

Drake University President David Maxwell has joined approximately 300 college presidents and chancellors nationwide in pledging to take concrete steps to make their campuses "climate neutral" as soon as possible to help combat global warming.

“Politics and the Press: A Community Conversation,” a Drake University-sponsored program featuring journalists and political experts discussing the role of the media in the presidential nominating process, airs at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, on Iowa Public Television.
