The annual event drew a record 140 high school students from the Des Moines area to the Drake campus on Saturday, Nov. 6. "¨"¨

Students, alumni and community members joined together on Nov. 18 and 19 for Entrepreneurship Week, a series of events centered on innovation in business.

Jennifer Perrine, assistant professor of English at Drake University, recently was awarded the 2010 Agha Shahid Ali Prize in Poetry for her latest collection of poems, "In the Human Zoo."

A delegation of a half dozen educators from Makerere University School of Business in Uganda recently visited Drake for six days to explore opportunities for expanding collaborative programs.

For the second year in a row, Drake University's Jazz Ensemble One performed at a formal party hosted by Drake alumnus Fred Turner, retired senior chairman of McDonald's Corp.

The magazine, which is published by the Des Moines Register, focuses on Rospond's success in balancing her professional and personal life.

When asked why she decided to go into counseling students, Drake alumna Careyanne Wood responded, "I wanted to make a difference."

Approximately 20 alumni -- some from as far away as Chicago and New York -- participated in his memorial service .
