Drake University President David Maxwell has joined approximately 315 college presidents and chancellors nationwide in pledging to take concrete steps to make their campuses "climate neutral" as soon as possible to help combat global warming.

On Aug. 2-3, Drake University will host the Iowa Governor's Conference on Public Health, also known as Barn Raising VI, which will focus on "Celebrating Healthy Communities."

More than 180 volunteers -- approximately half of them Drake alumni -- practiced the fine art of refreshment at the Des Moines Arts Festival June 29-31.
