Actors from the Drake University community will perform a heartwarming holiday classic with a new twist when they bring to the stage "It's a Wonderful Life -- A Live Radio Play," which opens Thursday, Dec. 13.

Drake University graduate Colin McDonald was among the top 20 winners for college feature writing in the national William Randolph Hearst Foundation's Journalism Awards Program.

Anna K. Ryon, a third-year law student and Opperman Scholar from Des Moines, recently gave an hour-long presentation at a national conference on adjustable-rate and exotic mortgages and how they have contributed to the subprime lending crisis.

From creating a sports drink from urine to detecting toxic metals in water, three Drake students rocketed through summer research internships at NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. The students recently shared findings from the exciting experience at a Drake University Science Colloquium Series presentation.

In her final year as national chair of the ambitious $190 million Campaign for Drake, Maddie Levitt told Drake President David Maxwell that the University wasn't keeping her busy enough, so she had taken a three-day-a-week position in fundraising at Iowa State University.

Longtime Drake trustee and benefactor Lyle D. Middleton, LA' 61, LW'64, died at his Des Moines home on Dec. 1 after more than a 10-year challenge with Parkinson's disease.
