Drake University Adult Literacy Center helped improve the lives of 100 Des Moines-area residents during the last year. Despite this success, these adults account for less than 0.1 percent of the estimated 90,000 Polk County residents who struggle daily to read signs, job applications, medicine labels and even the screens of ATMs.
Lang and Hunley to help first-year students adjust to Drake
Jessica Lang, AS'07, and Rickey Hunley, AS'05 have joined the Vice Provost Office for Student Affairs and Academic Excellence as entering first year advisers (EFR). They will work with entering first-year students and faculty to help students transition to Drake, and to strengthen student and faculty relationships.
