More than 30 alumni of Drake's College of Arts and Sciences will interact with students, meet with the college's National Advisory Council, and learn about Drake today when they return for Arts and Sciences Alumni Day 2007 on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Drake University's Center for Global Citizenship is launching a public lecture series titled "Debating America's Role in the World" in which experts on foreign affairs will discuss a variety of topics including terrorism, the Iraq war and the Middle East, hunger, pandemics, energy and climate change.

Although the research sites are located south of Indianapolis, Ind., Drake students are participating in a 10 year study of sustainable forestry in Indiana hardwood ecosystems right here on campus, to help improve the way lumber is harvested.

David S. Walker, dean of Drake University Law School and the Dwight D. Opperman distinguished professor of law, has notified the University and the Law School that he will resign as dean at the end of the 2007-08 academic year and return to the faculty.

In preparation for one of the largest first-year classes in Drake's history, the university is taking major steps to ensure every student an exceptional learning and living environment.

At 5:30 in the morning, Rachel Geilenfeld was trying hard to remain dry. The tickets for Sunday's nationally televised Republican presidential debate at Drake University were free, but the price paid by the 23-year-old Mitt Romney volunteer was to be buffeted by rain and wind sneaking into an open-air tent.

Reservations are now being accepted for the annual Drake Athletic Department Corn Feed and Bulldog Auction, which will be held Monday, Aug. 27, at the Drake Knapp Center.
