The 43rd Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at Drake University will open Sunday, March 9, in the Anderson Gallery of the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 2505 Carpenter Ave. The exhibition showcases work by Drake art and design students across disciplines that include printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, and graphic design.
The Drake Symphony Orchestra, directed by Akira Mori, associate professor of music, will perform a concert on Friday, March 7. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium, 2507 University Ave.

Heidi Sleister, associate professor of genetics, and Jerry Honts, associate professor of cell and molecular biology, recently received a NASA Iowa Space Grant Consortium (ISGC) Curriculum Development Grant in the amount of $5,000.
On Thursday, March 6, Louis Komjathy, assistant professor of Chinese relations and comparative religious studies at the University of San Diego, will deliver the lecture, “‘Names are the Guest of Reality’: Apophasis, Mysticism, and Soteriology in Daoist Perspective.”
On March 5, Arjia Rinpoche, a world renowned Tibetan lama, will visit Drake to discuss Buddhist concepts and meditation practices, and share his thoughts on achieving eternal peace through non-dualistic means.
On Thursday, Feb. 27, the Drake Chorale, a select women’s ensemble, will perform a concert to celebrate female composers and musicians.
Drake University’s Keys to Excellence Piano Concert Series will continue on Monday, March 3 with pianist Sergio Gallo of Georgia State University. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Drake University Department of Theatre Arts will present All New People and Extremities, directed by Drake theatre majors Matthew Schultz and Cameron Reeves respectively.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Drake Choir will host a benefit concert to support the group’s trip to New York in May. The concert will be held on Drake’s campus at 7:30 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium.
