Drake conference to explore issues of new media
A conference on "Legal and Ethical Issues of New Media" will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in the courtroom of Drake University's Neal and Bea Smith Law Center, 2400 University Ave. The conference, which is free and open to the public, will explore issues raised by social networking, blogs, wikis, vlogs and citizen journalists.

Although the research sites are located south of Indianapolis, Ind., Drake students are participating in a 10 year study of sustainable forestry in Indiana hardwood ecosystems right here on campus, to help improve the way lumber is harvested.
Grad creates Web site for LGBT alumni
Drake graduate Drew Gulley, AS'05, recently created a Web site designed to engage Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Drake alumni through dialogue and quality programming, while fostering support for Drake and its current LGBT students.

Drake University alumnus Larry Fish, chairman of the America unit of the Royal Bank of Scotland, will lead off this fall's Executive in Residence series in Drake's School of Management and Communication. He will give a public lecture titled "The Service Economy – Does Anyone Remember How to Deliver Service?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Sheslow Auditorium.
