Drake University has postponed the 2020 Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom along with related special events and programs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 111th edition of the event was scheduled for April 22–25 at Drake Stadium. The health, safety, and wellbeing of Drake Relays presented by Xtream participants and fans, along with guidance from local and national health officials, have been at the forefront of the decision-making process. Counseling Education Student Presents at Conference

Counseling Education student, Renu Suddapalli, recently presented her academic work at a conference. Suddapalli presented at the Race Challenge Conference held in October at Boston College. The theme of the 2019 conference was, “Race, Culture, & White Heterosexual Male Privilege (WHMP): Survival, Resistance, and Healing in the Current Social Climate.” The conference is sponsored by the Institute for the Study and Promotion of Race and Culture. The conference is currently in its 18th year and focalizes around a specific racial or cultural issue. Drake University’s pharmacy program and Law School move up in U.S. News rankings

Drake University’s pharmacy program and Law School are ranked among the best for academic quality according to analysis released today in U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 edition of “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” In the new rankings, Drake’s pharmacy program, part of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, improved its ranking among private school programs from a fifth-place tie in 2017 to a fourth-place tie. Drake’s score in the rankings increased from 2.9 to 3.2 on a 5-point scale. Citrix Workspace Performance Issues on Mediacom Internet Connections

Late yesterday afternoon, ITS became aware of Citrix Workspace performance issues on Mediacom’s network. This is affecting the ability to launch applications and desktops from Drake’s Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops for individuals who receive their home internet service from Mediacom. Applications affected include remote access to Banner, the Campus Desktop, College of Business desktop, and others. ITS is diligently working towards a resolution. While we work with Mediacom to solve the issue, anyone affected should instead visit https://vdi.drake.edu/ from a web browser to access these systems. The School of Education’s Continuing Education and Professional Development Department (CEPD) has won the United States Distance Learning Association’s prestigious 2020 Impact Award. The Impact Award honors outstanding projects featuring significant impact, reach, and understanding of diverse cultures, originating either in the U.S. or internationally; and extending across two or more organizations.
