Some Des Moines high school students got their first taste of live theater last month when Drake students performed the second act of "Nickel and Dimed" at five city high schools. The tour was made possible by an $8,000 grant from Prairie Meadows Race Track and Casino to Friends of Drake Arts.

A study for the "Allée" mural Stuart Davis designed for Drake's Hubbell Dining Hall will be offered by Christie's during a Nov. 29 auction of "Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture" in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza.

Mr. Drake celebrates his 90th birthday at Homecoming
Paul F. Morrison, who watched Jesse Owens compete in the Drake relays in 1935, witnessed Heisman Trophy candidate Johnny Bright get taken out by a brutal, racist hit in 1951, and last year traveled from Florida to Alaska to take in a football game and then a basketball game (along with a dog sled ride), was honored during Homecoming activities this past weekend.
