Drake SJMC sophomore places in Hearst investigative reporting contest

Andrew Kennard, a sophomore in the Drake School of Journalism and Mass Communication, has placed in the top 20 in the national Hearst investigative writing competition. His story on the history of Native American boarding schools in Iowa ranked 14th out of 67 entries from 41 schools. Kennard, who is news editor of the Times-Delphic, the campus student newspaper, was an intern at Native News Online last summer after his first year at Drake.
