Although the research sites are located south of Indianapolis, Ind., Drake students are participating in a 10-year study of sustainable forestry in Indiana hardwood ecosystems right here on campus, to help improve the way lumber is harvested.

Drake University will host a free concert featuring the University of Philippines Madrigal Singers as guest artists at 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 2507 University Ave.

The Drake Law School will celebrate and educate students and citizens on Constitution Day from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, in room 206 of Cartwright Hall. The event, "How to be a Constitutional Lawyer," is free and open to the public and will feature a panel of distinguished law faculty who have been involved in constitutional litigation. Pizza and soda will be provided for attendees.

Martin Berger of the University of California, Santa Cruz, will present “Liberal Whites and the Politics of Black Civil Rights Photography” as part of the Drake University Writers and Critics Series on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Luz Maria DeAlba, professor of mathematics and computer science, will give the annual Luther W. Stalnaker Lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Sheslow Auditorium.

Indian flutist Shashank, will present a lecture-demonstration recital with music by Ravi Shankarat Drake University.

David S. Senchina, assistant professor of biology, will begin the fall season of the Drake University Science Colloquium Series.

For Drake University pharmacy students, the transition from college to the professional world will be smoother, thanks to the new state-of-the-art Mayhew Compounding Laboratory, made possible by a $500,000 gift from alumnus Larry Mayhew and his wife, Sandy.
