Since 1961, nearly 900 Drake men have been initiated into the Iowa Delta chapter of Phi Delta Theta. During the 2007 Drake Relays, the chapter will officially celebrate its 45th year at the University.

Drake students do good, land concert
Who says there’s no reward for doing good? There is for students of Drake University and other universities, colleges and high schools who can verify that they’ve volunteered 10 or more hours in the past year. The reward: a concert by Australian band Jet on April 11 at the Drake Knapp Center.

Whiskers, wrinkles to dominate Relays beauty contest April 23
Fifty contestants sporting whiskers, wrinkles and wagging tails will compete in the 28th annual Beautiful Bulldog Contest to kick off Drake Relays Festival Week on Monday, April 23, at Nollen Plaza in downtown Des Moines. The winning bulldog will serve as Drake’s mascot for the 98th running of the Drake Relays April 26-28.
Former Drake players named to MVC women’s basketball All-Centennial team
Six former Drake standouts have been selected to the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Basketball All-Centennial team, which was determined by an online fan vote (www.mvc100.org), in-arena ballots at the recent MVC tournament in St. Louis and a centennial committee.

Some 30 faculty members from around the region will convene at Drake for a weekend of elaborate role-playing later this month. Led by College of Arts and Sciences Dean John Burney, this spring’s "Reacting to the Past" regional conference will be held March 23-25 on behalf of a consortium of 35 colleges and universities.
State party chairs to open political luncheon series Friday
Scott Brennan, chair of the Iowa Democratic Party, and Leon Mosley, co-chair of the Iowa Republican Party, will open the new Drake-IowaPolitics.com Luncheon Series. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, on Drake’s campus in Levitt Hall, Old Main.
