An applicant's online persona may have a greater impact on law school chances than in other disciplines. Caroline Bettis, a third-year law student at Drake, says that while she doesn't blame prospective students for being wary about admissions officials checking social media profiles, "it's not practical to say admissions counselors should divide your online personality from who you are in real life."

Drake's Center for Professional Studies will present a new certificate program designed to provide local leaders with the knowledge and skills to develop and maintain effective community based food systems. The program begins December 9, 2011.

Drake to host personal financial responsibility lecture with Consumer Credit of Des Moines co-founder
Thomas Coates, executive director and co-founder of Consumer Credit of Des Moines, will present a lecture on personal financial responsibility on November 3.
The event is free and open to the public. It will begin at 7 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium, 2507 University Ave.

Simon Conway Broadcasts From Meredith Hall
WHO-AM talk show host Simon Conway brought his 4 – 7 p.m. program to Drake, Nov. 1. Conway described himself as “a conservative and proud of it.” During his three-hour remote, Conway questioned a roundtable consisting of three Drake Law students and one politics junior. He also took telephone calls.

The final 'Let's DU Lunch' program will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Jean Groben, owner of Jasper Winery, will deliver a lecture on the challenges and rewards of operating a Newton-based winery that utilizes Iowa grown grapes.
