At the Drake Double D Award dinner held Feb. 17, Drake Athletics recognized four outstanding alumni for achievements in their chosen fields of endeavor and/or community service since leaving Drake.

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) has announced that Jennifer Fix, PH'85, GR'86, is the recipient of the 2006 APhA Good Government Pharmacist-of-the-Year Award.

This spring, the annual Drake Law School Constitutional Law Symposium will tackle a bold topic for debate: Does the U.S. Constitution thwart democracy? The event, titled "Our 'Undemocratic' American Constitution," is set for Saturday, April 7, with activities beginning at 8 a.m. in Cartwright Hall.

Drake Head Start continues its 30th anniversary, and the program has plenty to celebrate. In 2006, Drake Head Start received a few especially nice birthday presents, racking up literary achievements with awards and grants both locally and nationally.

Nationally renowned journalist and author Neenah Ellis, FA'81, will be the featured speaker at the Live! @ the Drake Library Series on Tuesday, March 27. Ellis will share highlights of her career at 7 p.m. in the Cowles Library Reading Room.

Tickets for the 98th running of the Drake Relays, to be held April 26-28, are now on sale at the Drake Athletic Ticket Office.

Six former Drake standouts have been selected to the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Basketball All-Centennial team, which was determined by an online fan vote (www.mvc100.org), in-arena ballots at the recent MVC tournament in St. Louis and a centennial committee.

Since 1961, nearly 900 Drake men have been initiated into the Iowa Delta chapter of Phi Delta Theta. During the 2007 Drake Relays, the chapter will officially celebrate its 45th year at the University.
