Globetrotting cancer survivors to read creative nonfiction at Drake University

A pair of cancer survivors who recently traveled to Machu Picchu with Above + Beyond Cancer will give a free public reading of creative nonfiction narratives about their trip.

“Journey to Machu Picchu: Creative Nonfiction Narratives of Discovery, Recovery and Transformation” is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in Drake University’s Cowles Reading Room, 2725 University Ave. The reading features
Lorel Jeffries and Joseph Sabroski’s creative nonfiction personal narratives about trekking through the Andes with Above + Beyond Cancer, and the effects of this transformational journey on their survivorship.

Jeffries and Sabroski developed these narratives in a community writing workshop sponsored by Drake University and Above + Beyond Cancer, a public charity that elevates the lives of cancer survivors through incredible adventures.
