Adult Literacy Center Receives Grant from Prairie Meadows

The Drake University Adult Literacy Center (DUALC) was awarded a Community Betterment Grant from Prairie Meadows.

Jayne Smith and Christina Sibouih of Drake’s Office of Sponsored Programs join Anne Murr, Adult Literacy Center Director, and Marcia Martin, ALC Advisory Council member  to receive the $7500 grant.

The grant money will be used to promote literacy efforts.  The goal of the Adult Literacy Center is to improve literacy, resulting in enhanced self-esteem, daily living, and life-long learning. Utilizing volunteers, the DUALC improves the quality of adults’ lives by helping them learn to read, write and comprehend.
