The Neal and Bea Smith Law Center at Drake University Law School can be seen several times during a trailer for the movie “Smitty.”
A crew filmed several scenes for the movie on Drake’s campus and the surrounding area last year.
The movie, which stars Mira Sorvino and Peter Fonda, tells the story of a troubled 13-year-old boy. After he gets arrested, he is sent to live with his grandfather on an Iowa farm and develops a friendship with a mutt named Smitty.
The inside of the courtroom in the Neal and Bea Smith Law Center can be seen at the :40 mark when the teenager ends up in court. A shot of the Drake neighborhood in front of the law center was also included in the trailer around the 2:44 mark.
