SJMC student places in national writing contest

A Times-Delphic story by sophomore Andrew Kennard placed in the top 20 of the national Hearst Awards investigative writing contest. Kennard, who is news editor of the Times-Delphic, placed 14th for his story on the history of Native American boarding schools in Iowa. Kennard was an intern for Native News Online last summer after his first year at Drake.

Professor Stoldt wins international research award

Assistant professor of advertising Ryan Stoldt‘s Ph.D. dissertation was named the best in the International Communication Association’s Global Communication and Social Change competition. The judges said that Stoldt’s work is “highly relevant to the study of global communication” and applauded the “strength of the evidence, soundness of methodology and quality of writing.” The title of Stoldt’s dissertation was “Imagining the World: Personalization Algorithms and Global Media Flows on Netflix” (defended at The University of Iowa, 2021).

Retirement reception for Dean Richardson rescheduled

The rescheduled retirement reception for Dean Kathleen Richardson will be held Friday, May 20, 3-5 p.m. in the north lobby of Meredith Hall near the atrium.
