As fairgoers gather to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and honor Iowa’s heritage, Drake University is bringing Bulldog spirit to the 2026 Iowa State Fair, running August 13–23.
Located at Booth 332 in the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building, the Drake exhibit embraces this year’s “Fair Spirit” theme. Throughout the Fair’s 11-day run, the University will showcase its rich history of innovation, welcoming atmosphere, and community leadership.
Proudly known as Des Moines’ Hometown Team, Drake extends a warm welcome to everyone—alumni, prospective students, sports fans, and community members alike. All are invited to stop by, connect, and celebrate the vibrant community that ties Des Moines and Iowa together.
Visit Booth 332 to learn about the University’s programs and browse a large selection of officially licensed Drake gear—including exclusive Drake State Fair merchandise and apparel available only to fairgoers.
Investing in Homegrown Talent
Drake’s presence at the Fair highlights its ongoing commitment to educating the state’s future leaders through dedicated financial aid initiatives for Iowa talent.
“Our focus is keeping a premier education accessible through programs like the Bulldog Promise, which ensures 100% tuition coverage for up to four years for qualifying, first-time Iowa bachelor’s degree students,” said Drake University President Marty Martin. “Additionally, the Bright College Pathway provides full two-year tuition coverage for Iowa students pursuing an associate degree through Drake’s John Dee Bright College.”
Meet the Bulldogs: Colleges, Careers, and Athletics
To give fairgoers a closer look at life at Drake, the exhibit will highlight different areas of academic focus. Visitors can chat directly with a Drake representative and learn more about our bright and brilliant Bulldogs.
Bulldog fans can also connect with Drake Athletics to celebrate our hometown team. Coaching staff and student-athletes will be at the booth throughout the fair to meet fans and hand out free team posters.
Drake Partners for Sensory-Friendly Morning
Drake is also continuing its community inclusion and outreach at the fairgrounds. The Drake University Occupational Therapy (OTD) program is once again sponsoring the Iowa State Fair’s Sensory-Friendly Morning on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Now in its fifth year, the morning features adjustments across the fairgrounds to reduce sensory overload, including lowered sound levels, limited flashing lights, and specialized programming.
“Occupational therapy is fundamentally about breaking down barriers to ensure that every individual can participate fully in the activities that bring joy and meaning to their lives,” said Rachel Allen-McHugh, associate professor of Occupational Therapy and chair/program director of the Drake OTD Program. “By partnering with the Fair for Sensory-Friendly Morning, we are helping to make this beloved Iowa tradition accessible and welcoming for every family in our community.”
