SJMC alumnae named “women of influence”
Two Drake SJMC alumnae were named among the Des Moines Business Record’s 2021 “Women of Influence.” Emily Abbas, JO’97, MCL’09, is chief retail banking and marketing officer for Bankers Trust. Tiffany Tauscheck, JO’01, is chief operations officer for the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
University Communications and Marketing seeks “models”
The Drake communications office will be taking photos this summer for use in promotional materials. The office is especially interested in reflecting the diversity of the student body. Alumni news
Abby Finkenauer, JO’11, a Democrat, recently announced that she is running for the U.S. Senate in 2022 to replace longtime Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley. Finkenauer represented Iowa’s first congressional district from 2019-21, and served in the Iowa House from 2015-19.
Jazlin Coley, JO’19, has been named Drake’s new director of equity and inclusion. She will oversee the Crew Scholars and Flight programs. Jazlin has been the service coordinator of equity and inclusion in the Office of Community Engaged Learning.
Help us get back to “normal” — report your vaccination
All members of the Drake community are encouraged to help alleviate the threat of the pandemic by getting vaccinated. And, once you are fully vaccinated, please report that to the University. Required campus safety protocols in the fall — including mask wearing and social distancing — will be determined by how many people on campus are vaccinated. The sooner everyone gets vaccinated, the sooner we can loosen restrictions.
