The panel of students will discuss what they learned about engaging in our democratic system during their involvement in the Iowa Caucuses. Panel members worked with a variety of different campaigns and candidates during the caucuses, including Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and the Obama for America campaign. One student panelist spent the caucuses working with ABC News.
Rachel Caufield, professor of politics, will moderate the event.
The theme for the 2012 Engaged Citizen Experience is “Technology and Democracy: Dialogue and Dissent.” The Engaged Citizen Experience is part of the Drake Curriculum, which aims to ensure students learn to participate effectively in democratic processes through coursework, classroom and community activities.
