Q: Why did you choose to attend Drake?

A: I chose Drake because I was looking for a university with “big-school” opportunities but on a “small-school” scale. I wanted to chase my dreams, build a strong resume, and set myself up for success after graduation. Drake provided all of that. I know all of my professors, they know me, and I easily found my way around campus. It allowed me to make a real impact here while still enjoying big-time opportunities.

Q: What is your favorite campus memory?

A: My favorite memory is sitting on the front porch with my friends during the summer when a small group of us lived near campus for internships and jobs. Even though I wasn’t at home with my own family, my friends and the Des Moines community truly felt like a family to me. That time will always be incredibly special.

Q: How has Drake helped you prepare for your future career?

A: Drake has prepared me through everything from coursework—giving me the tangible skills needed to succeed in my field—to networking. Drake’s faculty, staff, and alumni will do anything they can to support your post-grad success. Having access to that genuinely supportive network made the biggest impact on my journey.

Q: What is next for you after you graduate?

A: After graduation, I will be working on a political campaign here in Iowa. Following the election in November, I hope to stick around in politics and see where it takes me!

Q: What advice would you give a first-year incoming student?

A: Get to know your professors. To all first-years coming to Drake: invest time with the faculty and staff. They are some of the most valuable resources you will have during your college years. They genuinely care about you and want to see you succeed, so put in the effort to go meet them!
