As climate change takes center stage in the presidential campaign, join a candid conversation with state climatologists whose professional experience spans four U.S. states —moderated by PBS science correspondent Miles O’Brien. Learn about what in their jobs keeps these experts up at night and how they are working to protect residents, farms, businesses and infrastructure from rapidly changing climate-related risks.

“Climate Change: Rising to the Challenge” will be Tuesday, Aug. 6, 6-9 p.m. at the Science Center of Iowa, 401 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Des Moines, IA 50309. The event is hosted jointly by the Drake School of Journalism and Mass Communication and SciLine — a philanthropically funded free service for journalists and scientists, based at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C. — with support from the Schmidt Family Foundation. A reception will follow.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, visit  http://www.sciline.org/climatetalk
