The School of Education welcomed 75 teachers from across Iowa to Drake University on February 10 to discuss the topics of inclusion and co-teaching. Inclusion and co-teaching are research-based strategies that help students with disabilities learn and study in general education settings with their peers. Dr. Lisa Dieker, a Professor of Special Education from the University of Central Florida, guided the full day conference. The educators who attended were actively involved and the campus teams in attendance were guided on the best way to implement the strategies presented.
The event was sponsored by the James McMahon Institute, facilitated by Drake’s Special Education Program and made possible by a generous gift from Noreen Barkema.
