Drake University’s Executive Education Center has launched Building Leaders from the Inside Out© series —three separate professional development programs called Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Organizations. The Leading Others program starts this summer, with applications being accepted until June 26. This four-part signature learning experience that encompasses nearly 100 hours of orchestrated learning completed over a 12-month time period. Participants can earn three hours of academic credit toward a Drake M.B.A. or Master of Communication Leadership degree.
Area business leaders saw a need for such a program and had no university in Iowa to partner with on professional education. Drake formed an advisory council of human resources executives from a variety of industries to learn more about area organizations’ challenges and needs. They all described a similar challenge: Professional rise through the ranks because of area matter expertise or a specific skill, but they often struggle to demonstrate leadership.
In addition to the series, Drake will create custom, professional learning experiences to fit an organization’s specific needs. The center also offers certificate programs, such as the Iowa Certified Public Manager program, to meet industry-wide demands.
The Executive Education Center is accepting applications for Leading Others until June 26.
