ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) just completed their 68th Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Over ten thousand participants were in attendance. Drake University partners with Iowa ASCD to host a Fall Conference each year, and Dr. Elaine Smith-Bright, Department of Educational Leadership, in the School of Education serves on their board as a higher education representative.
This year, Iowa ASCD received the Affiliate Overall Excellence Award which recognizes excellence in five areas:
- Membership
- Communication and Publications
- Programs, Products, and Services
- Influence and Policy
- Leadership and Governance
The award is designed to call attention to the exemplary service ASCD affiliates and their partners provide to the education community.
