Lansing, Webb named recipients of Howlett Award

Recent Drake graduates Olivia Lansing (Dellwood, Minn.) and Garrett Webb (Prairie Village Kan.) were named co-recipients of the Tim and Jerry Howlett Award as Drake’s top athletes for 2009-10 during the annual Bulldog Corn Feed Monday Night at the Izaak Walton League.”¨”¨

More than 300 Drake fans attended the 26th annual event which traditionally kicks off the upcoming athletic season at Drake.ӬӬ

Webb joined former Drake and Major League Soccer standout Ezra Hendrickson, who collected third team accolades in 1993, as the only Bulldogs to garner All-America playing honors in program history.

Starting all 24 games in which he appeared, “¨Lansing established herself as the greatest player in the short four-year history of Drake women’s golf. “¨”¨Lansing was one of nine individuals selected nationally by the NCAA Women’s Golf Committee to participate in the NCAA Central Regional this past weekend.”¨”¨ She became just the fifth player in Missouri Valley Conference history to capture multiple medalist honors winning the league’s individual title this season as well as a sophomore in 2008, while finishing as runner-up in 2009.

By winning, Lansing earned a third-straight MVC all-conference award.  Lansing was named the MVC Golfer of the Week 11 times during her career at Drake.
