Drake prepares high schoolers for college, pharmacy careers with summer seminar

Drake University will again welcome local high schoolers to campus to learn about the pharmacy field on Tuesday, August 10.

High school juniors who participated in “Discover Drake, Explore Pharmacy” last summer, as well as incoming sophomores, will spend a day on Drake’s campus. The students will take part in a variety of activities related to the exploration of pharmacy, careers in the health sciences field and the appreciation of community involvement.

“The program’s overall goal is to introduce high school students to the pharmacy profession and assist them in successful admission to health care professional programs,” said Renae Chesnut, associate professor of pharmacy practice and associate dean for academic and student affairs.

“Discover Drake, Explore Pharmacy” is made possible by a grant from Walgreen’s with the purpose of developing, implementing and supporting programs that will have a positive impact and gain more diversity within Drake’s pharmacy student body.
