Drake University’s Jazz Ensemble II will present swing, funk, shuffle and Latin styles in the group’s annual fall concert on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The ensemble is directed by James Romain, assistant director of jazz studies at Drake.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Hall, Harmon Fine Arts Center, 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue.

“Drake University’s Jazz Ensemble II has, in recent years, become an outstanding jazz ensemble, and we look forward to an exciting concert,” Romain said. “The band has worked hard over the course of the semester, and is sounding great.”

The 21-piece band will play compositions and arrangements by Duke Ellington, Sammy Nestico, Thad Jones, Benny Carter and Astor Piazzolla.
