On Wednesday, Nov. 5, Drake University will co-host an open forum on global migration at 7 p.m. in Parents Hall in Olmsted Center, 2785 University Ave. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature three speakers:
• Lloyd Le Page, technology acceptance manager for Africa for Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc.
• Lou de Baca, counsel for the House Committee on Judiciary
• Richard E. Scott, regional representative for North America and the Caribbean for the International Organization for Migration
Event sponsors include Iowa Council for International Understanding, Kemin Industries, Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., Greater Des Moines Partnership and Drake University Center for Global Citizenship.
In addition, a Global Migration Symposium will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Pioneer Hi-Bred’s Carver Center, 7000 N.W. 62nd Ave. in Johnston.
The day will feature workshop panels led by experts on the following topics:
• “The Trials and Tribulations of Relocating/Resettling Employees”
• “Leading an International Work Force”
• “The Business Impact of Global Migration on Sales and Marketing”
The cost for the symposium is $10 for students and $50 for non-students. It is sponsored by the Iowa Council for International Understanding, Kemin Industries, Pioneer Hi-Bred and Greater Des Moines Partnership. Visit the Web site for more information or to register online.
