A new series of programs at Drake University will help employees point and click their way to a better workplace.

The Center for Professional Studies in Drake’s College of Business and Public Administration is offering a series of technology-related courses designed to help workers brush up their skills in common software programs including Excel, Access and FrontPage.

Classes are held in a lab that mirrors computer systems in most professional and academic environments. The curriculum is appropriate for a wide range of learners. The size of the class is limited in order to provide personal attention to each participant.

Courses begin Friday, March 31, in the computer lab in Aliber Hall, 2847 University Ave. All classes are 1 to 4 p.m. on Fridays. The cost is $75 per day or $299 for all five sessions. To register, call (515) 271-2592 or e-mail cps@drake.edu.

The schedule of offerings is as follows:

  • March 31: Microsoft Excel basics
  • April 7: Advanced Excel skills
  • April 21: Using Microsoft Access for database creation
  • April 28 and May 5: Using Microsoft FrontPage for Web design
