Ceremonies highlight notable students
The Pinning Ceremony, Hooding Ceremony, and Health Sciences Graduation Celebration honored highly deserving students this past May.
In the month of May, Drake’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has honored students who have distinguished themselves from their peers during three ceremonies and celebrations. While the Pinning Ceremony, Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, and HealthSciences Graduation Celebration each recognize students as they enter the next phase of their careers, a spotlight is placed on deserving students.
The Pinning Ceremony was held on May 4th in Sussman Theater. All junior HealthScience students and P3 students received their official college pin and professional name tag in preparation for their rotations in the following months. The students recognized during the awards portion of the ceremony were as follows:
Lon Larson Engaged Leader Award—Ryan Hannan, P4
Health Sciences Student Leadership Award—Logan Clarahan, senior Health Sciences
Outstanding Health Sciences Student Award—Nick Jenderko, senior Health Sciences
Cardinal Health Scholarship—Elise Damman, P4 and Kayla Hughes, P4
The Hooding Ceremony was held in the Knapp Center on May 12th and distributed doctoral hoods to students who have completed the Drake graduate program. Awards were given out to the following students:
Excellence in Clinical Communication Skills—Kya Norby
Outstanding Student Award—Steven Jordan
Excellence in Pharmacy—Shea O’Brien
Outstanding Community Practice Pharmacy Graduate—Morgan McPherson
Excellence in Diabetes Disease Management—Molly Obermark
Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database Recognition Award—Taylor Monson
Scholastic Achievement in Pharmacy Studies—Alyse Herman
Senior Recognition Certificate—Nora Stelter Assigns Molly Obermark
Jerry L. Karbeling Memorial Leadership Award—Elizabeth Bald
Lambda Kappa Sigma Ethel J. Health Scholarship—Katelin Hardisty
On that same day, the Health Sciences Graduation Celebration was held in Sheslow Auditorium. It honored all of Drake’s stellar Health Sciences students, especially those below.
