Chicago Symphony Orchestra bass trombonist Charles Vernon will perform a free solo recital at Drake University this month.
Vernon was a guest soloist with the Drake Wind Symphony last year, and “he enjoyed himself so much that he wished to return and perform for and work with students again,” said Grady McGrannahan, associate professor of low brass at Drake University.
Vernon will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in Drake’s Sheslow Auditorium, 2507 University Ave. He will also hold a master class at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in room 004 of the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 2505 Carpenter Ave. Both events are free and open to the public.
The visit is sponsored by Rieman Music and Conn-Selmer, Inc.
