Drake University’s Sara Lowe, reference librarian at Opperman Law Library, and Sean Stone, pharmacy and science librarian at Cowles Library, co-authored a paper that won the Best Paper of 2010 Award from the Special Library Association.

Lowe and Stone presented the paper, which was selected by the SLA Contributed Papers Committee, at the association’s recent annual meeting in New Orleans.

The committee praised Lowe and Stone for their description of outreach to two distinctly different sets of library users, focusing on meeting their needs.

“We all agreed that this truly encapsulated the theme of ‘Letting the Good Times Roll,’ and want to congratulate you again for your outstanding efforts,” said committee member Chris Mulready, acquisitions librarian at Boeing Co.

The paper, “Information Literacy for Professional Programs: Two Case Studies at One University,” will be published in an upcoming issue of SLA’s Information Outlook.

Both Lowe and Stone are eligible to receive free registration for the 2011 SLA Annual conference in Philadelphia next summer.
