Drake designated as distribution site for H1N1 flu vaccine

Drake University’s Student Health Center also has been designated by the
Polk County Health Department as a distribution site for the H1N1 flu vaccine,
which is expected to be available sometime in October.

Drake officials are
communicating with the Polk County Health Department and are working closely
with the Iowa Department of Public Health. High risk populations will be given
priority to receive the vaccine. It is not known at this time how many doses of
the vaccine will be given to Drake University.

The Drake University Student Health Center will notify the campus community
through the internal blueView portal when the supply of seasonal influenza vaccines has arrived. Officials at the center
encourage
 people to
consider getting the vaccine to decrease seasonal influenza, which is not the same as the H1N1 influenza.
