OUTSTANDING DRAKE PHARMACY FACULTY HONORED WITH AWARDS
Drake University recently recognized several distinguished College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences faculty members and mentors with awards at the college’s annual student-organized Pharmacy and Health Sciences Day.
The honorees are:
• Geoff Wall of Johnston, associate professor of pharmacy practice, Mentor of the Year Award
• Sarah Grady of Des Moines, associate professor of pharmacy practice, Teacher of the Year Award
• Sheryl Compton of Altoona, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, Faculty Preceptor of the Year Award
• Melissa Nelson of Adel, supervisor for Mercy Outpatient Pharmacy, Introductory Practice Experience Preceptor of the Year Award
• Michele Evink of Osceola, director of pharmacy services at Clarke County Hospital, Adjunct Faculty Preceptor of the Year Award
• Megan Friedrich of West Des Moines, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, Hartig Faculty Development Award
• Denise Soltis of Des Moines, assistant dean for clinical affairs and assistant professor of pharmacy practice, Hartig Distinguished Professor Award
• Renae Chesnut of Johnston, associate professor of pharmacy practice and associate dean for academic and student affairs, C. Boyd Granberg Professional Leadership Award
The mentor, teacher and preceptor of the year awards are given annually to faculty nominated by students.
Both of the Hartig awards are funded annually by the Hartig Pharmacy Fund, which was established by Drake alumnus Richard Hartig of Hartig Drug Stores, based in Dubuque, Iowa, and his wife, Brenda.
The Hartig Distinguished Professor Award recognizes a pharmacy faculty member who has distinguished himself or herself in teaching, scholarship, service or practice during the previous academic year.
The Hartig Faculty Development Award supports a faculty member’s development activities that educate, encourage and enhance entrepreneurialism in community pharmacy practice or ownership.
The Granberg award recognizes a faculty member for professional organization leadership, demonstration of professional leadership traits and commitment to advancing the pharmacy profession.
