“Sandy moves her images away from seeming sentimental or overly-romantic,” says Heather Skeens, director of the Anderson Gallery. “‘My Eyes are Not Shut’ highlights many of Dyas’ portraits, as well as her more formal works that celebrate relationships of color and shape found in ordinary places.”
Dyas’ work has been featured in numerous publications and art galleries, including Vogue, The New York Times, and The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Most recently, Dyas’ work was featured in The Iowa Review and on both the front and back covers of the quarterly publication.
The Anderson Gallery is dedicated to exploring contemporary art and design. It hosts curated exhibitions of historically significant work, as well as annual showcases of student work.
“My Eyes are Not Shut” will be on display until Oct. 12, 2012. For more information about the exhibit contact Heather Skeens, the Anderson Gallery director, at 515-271-1994.
