SJMC Monday Memo

Get job, internship help this week

Two video conferences will be offered this week to discuss jobs, careers and internships:

Ask Us Anything! A video conference for seniors on jobs and careers
Wednesday, April 8 at noon CST
Seniors, we understand that you may be feeling anxious. Are you looking for resources in your job search? Are you wondering how to proceed during this uncertain time?  We’re here to help.  Join us on this video conference where you can ask us anything regarding careers and your job search. We will share the most current information we’re gathering from employers, as well as tips, but the agenda is yours.

You can submit questions ahead of time here, and we’ll answer during the conference.  You can ask questions during the conference also.  We’ll record it and compile the list of FAQ after the call and share it on our website. Seniors from all majors welcomed!
Hosted by Drake career services professionals Chrystal Stanley, Annette Watson, Leah Berte and Carlyn Crowe.

Other career development events are being planned for the rest of the school year, including a remote guest lecture on Monday, April 13, at 6 p.m. by SJMC alum Lucille Carver, JO’12, pictured, who is social media manager for LinkedIn. Carver previously worked for McDonald’s, Hickory Farms and Chicago’s Field Museum. Details on how to participate in Carver’s virtual visit will be distributed later this week.

A new Facebook group (Drake SJMC Careers and Internship Group) is for Drake SJMC students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and employers to discuss all matters relative to careers, jobs, internships and professional development. Please join in if you have, or are seeking, advice, trends, tips and positions to share, as well as networking opportunities.
