Trent Grundmeyer, associate professor of educational leadership from Drake’s School of Education recently presented at the National Youth-At-Risk Conference. His presentation, The Domino Effect: Lessons from the prison walls, focused on the program that goes into Iowa prisons and prompts those who work with at-risk youth to hear from incarcerated men and women. A highlight of this program is that the inmates offer strategies and provide hope for those serving these kids, which in turn will help keep the kids out of prison and help them be successful in school. Over 1000 people have participated in the program over the course of five years. More information is available at the program website, www.thedominoeffectprogram.weebly.com.
