The White Coat Ceremony has been a tradition for pharmacy students at Drake University since 1998. This ceremonial rite of passage occurs before the start of the fall semester for all P1 students, welcoming them to the professional pharmacy program. In 2007, Drake expanded the white coat tradition to include sponsorships for students’ coats.
It’s more than just a coat and a ceremony.
When incoming students slip into their coats during the PharmD and OTD White Coat and Athletic Training Blue Coat ceremonies, they symbolically commit to the promise and potential that’s already within them and announce their commitment to the world.
You can be part of this momentous turning point and begin a mentoring relationship that will shape the next generation of health care professionals by sponsoring a coat for a Drake student.
Your name is placed inside the coat pocket so the student who receives it knows an experienced professional supports their journey as a beacon of advice, networking, and professional mentoring throughout their education and beyond.
A gift of $100* sponsors a white coat for one of our newest PharmD or OTD candidates or a blue coat for one of our newest Athletic Training candidates. (*2010-2018 graduates can contribute at a $50 level.)
Sponsor a white or blue coat and help take care of the world tomorrow by investing in Drake students today.
