DES MOINES, Iowa – (Dec. 10, 2018) – Drake University will hold a commencement ceremony this weekend to celebrate the accomplishments of nearly 300 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students who completed their degree requirements as of the conclusion of the fall 2018 semester.
Drake’s 145th commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in The Knapp Center, 2525 Forest Ave. The public is invited to attend and celebrate the students’ achievements.
The ceremony will include opening remarks by Drake University Board of Trustees Chair and Drake alumnus David Golder, managing partner of Golder Investment Management and vice president and treasurer of the Golder Family Foundation.
Also speaking at the ceremony will be Kimberly Wayne who is receiving a doctoral degree in education. Wayne is the regional manager of Quality and Continuous Improvement at the Siegwerk Company in Des Moines and serves on the Iowa State Board of Education. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University. Wayne has a passion for empowering youth and founded Jewels Academy, an informal STEM enrichment organization for underrepresented young women.
